TINJAUAN SISTEMATIS IMPLEMENTASI REKAM MEDIS ELEKTRONIK DALAM MENDUKUNG PENGELOLAAN PENYAKIT KRONIS DI NEGARA BERPENDAPATAN RENDAH DAN MENENGAH

Abstract

Chronic diseases require health services that are sustainable, integrated, and supported by information systems that are able to provide accurate clinical data. Electronic Medical Records (RME) is one of the digital innovations that has the potential to improve the quality of chronic disease management, especially in low- and middle-income countries that face limited resources and a high burden of disease. This study aims to synthesize scientific evidence regarding the implementation of RME in supporting chronic disease management in low- and middle-income countries. This study uses a systematic review design with reference to the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Literature searches were conducted on PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, CINAHL, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar databases for articles published in the period 2015-2026. Articles that met the inclusion criteria were evaluated for quality using the Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal Tools or the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool according to the research design. The data was synthesized using narrative synthesis and thematic analysis approaches. A total of 37 articles met the inclusion criteria. The results of the synthesis show that the implementation of RME improves continuity of service, quality of clinical documentation, coordination between health workers, monitoring of patient conditions, and supports clinical decision-making in chronic disease management. Key implementation challenges include limited technology infrastructure, digital competencies of health workers, funding, system interoperability, and organizational support. The successful implementation is supported by leadership commitment, user training, technical support, and health digital transformation policies. The implementation of RME plays an important role in improving the quality of chronic disease management in low- and middle-income countries. Successful implementation requires strengthening infrastructure, human resource capacity, organizational governance, and sustainable policy support.
